CAYENNE (Capsicum frutescens)

Cayenne pepper is also known as chili or red hot pepper. It is the fruit of Capsicum annuum, which is a tropical fiery plant. The active ingredient of cayenne pepper is capsaicin, which accounts for its pungent and irritating effects. Cayenne pepper also contains vitamins A, C, carotenoids and volatile oils.

Side Effects and Warnings of Cayenne Pepper:

  • When applied topically, it may produce a burning sensation; however, this side effect diminishes with time and is rarely severe enough to prevent use of the cream.
